Kasih Sayang’s “Gift of Love” Reaches the Semi-Finals

We are delighted to share that Kasih Sayang has been selected for the semi-finals of Inspiring Singapore 2026, a filmmaking competition organised by The Majurity Trust

This year’s competition explores the theme “Community Empowerment: Belonging, Resilience and Thriving.” Through the power of film, it brings forward stories of people and communities creating meaningful and lasting change in Singapore.

Kasih Sayang’s film, “Gift of Love,” is one of the shortlisted entries progressing through Community Vetting.

A Story of Community

Kasih Sayang is an initiative by Kampong Kapor Family Service Centre that embodies the spirit of mutual care, participation and contribution.

What began as a community fridge to provide food support has grown into something much more meaningful—a space where residents connect, share their ideas and skills, and contribute to the well-being of one another.

“Gift of Love” captures the heart of this community: people coming together through simple but meaningful acts of kindness. It reminds us that everyone has something valuable to contribute, regardless of their circumstances.

The film is not only about providing support to those facing challenges. It is about building relationships, nurturing a sense of belonging and creating opportunities for residents to recognise their own strengths.

Why This Story Deserves Your Support

We believe “Gift of Love” deserves to progress because it presents an authentic story of community empowerment.

Kasih Sayang does not view residents simply as recipients of support. Instead, it encourages them to participate, contribute and become part of the community’s growth. Residents are given opportunities to share their time, ideas, skills and care with others.

This is what makes the Kasih Sayang story special: the “gift” is not only the food or practical assistance being shared. It is the dignity of being able to contribute, the comfort of knowing that one belongs, and the relationships formed when neighbours care for one another.

The story reflects our belief that stronger communities are built when people are empowered to move from receiving support to becoming contributors themselves.
