Help children build the confidence to speak up, protect their boundaries, and seek help through SAFE ME!
Imagine your child coming home unusually quiet.
You ask if everything is all right. Your child hesitates, looks away and finally says, “Something happened, but I don’t know if I should tell you.”
As parents and caregivers, we hope our children will come to us whenever something feels wrong. Yet children may not always recognise an unsafe situation or know how to explain what has happened. They may worry that adults will not believe them, fear getting into trouble or feel they must keep a secret.
Keeping children safe begins with helping them recognise that their feelings matter—and that they can ask for help.

Helping Children Find Their Voice
Kampong Kapor Community Services (KKCS) identified a need for children to develop practical skills to recognise unsafe situations, protect their personal boundaries and seek help. We developed SAFE ME! to help upper-primary children build these skills and the confidence to use them.
Through age-appropriate games, guided discussions and activities, children learn to recognise warning signs, understand body ownership and respect personal boundaries. They explore the difference between safe and unsafe secrets and identify trusted adults they can turn to.
Children also practise saying “No”, moving away and telling someone when something feels wrong. Above all, they learn to keep seeking help until someone responds.
These lessons carry a simple but powerful message:
“I have the right to feel safe, and I can speak up when something does not feel right.”
Guided practice helps children turn that understanding into actions they can use in everyday life.
A Safety Network Starts at Home
Children need adults who will listen calmly, take their concerns seriously and help them feel supported.
SAFE ME! therefore involves parents and caregivers through briefings and conversations that reinforce safety messages at home. By making space for open conversations, adults can help children feel comfortable sharing experiences that may be confusing, uncomfortable or difficult to explain.
Since 2020, SAFE ME! has completed six programme runs and reached 60 children. Parents have observed greater independence, confidence and willingness to share.
One parent reflected:
“Nothing beats seeing our children become more independent. Their confidence level goes up so many folds.”
Help Us Reach More Children
Your donation helps us sustain the programme and bring these essential skills to more children and families. Contributions support programme delivery, age-appropriate learning materials, guided practice and engagement with parents and caregivers.
Help more children know that their boundaries matter, their voices deserve to be heard, and they can turn to someone for help.
