Family and Child Development Programmes

Supporting Families. Nurturing Children.

Our programmes are designed to help families grow and children reach their full potential. Grounded in evidence-informed practices, our programmes provide tailored support in areas like parenting, education, and child development. Each programme is carefully evaluated, and insights from these evaluations guide ongoing improvements, ensuring families receive the most effective support possible.

Programmes

BRIGHT

Building Resilience. Igniting Growth. Harnessing Togetherness.

BRIGHT is a comprehensive and collaborative service model designed to improve children‘s academic outcomes by providing holistic support to under-resourced families.Targeted at families with children aged 7 to 9, the programme offers:

Support for Children

  • Weekly 1-1 literacy sessions – Building reading and writing abilities so children are confident to learn in school.
  • Weekly group-based socio-emotional learning sessions – Helping children understand emotions, build friendships, and grow in resilience.

Support for Caregivers

  • Monthly Home Visits with Caregivers – Creating space for caregivers to reflect, discover strengths, and support their child’s learning at home

At BRIGHT, we partner with families to support the brighter future they envision for their children.

Safe ME!

Safe ME! builds children’s knowledge and skills of protective behaviours. Through engaging activities in a group setting, children will learn to:

  • Recognise unsafe situations
  • Respond appropriately to unsafe situations
  • Report concerns to trusted adults

Since 2020, Safe ME! has completed 6 successful runs, impacting 60 children with 86% of participants showing an improvement in knowledge and skills of protective behaviours at the end of the programme. We continue to equip children with essential protective behaviours, helping them to build confidence and personal safety skills.

Parent’s Testimonial

“Nothing beats to see our children being independent, and once they achieve that, their confidence level goes up so many folds to accomplish other tasks”

Parent’s Testimonial

“After my girl attended, she understands that she can be alone with our knowledge, so we know that she is safe and we as parents worry less”

Empowered Families Initiative

KKCS has partnered with The Empowered Families Initiative to adopt their programme, Empowered Families Initiative (EFI).

EFI is a developmental programme that aims to invest in the aspirations of lower-income families in Singapore, to improve their life circumstances and socio-economic position.

EFI takes 3-pronged approach:

Access Grants: Families receive grants to work on their aspiration plans, including but not limited to upskilling, home-based businesses, debt clearing etc.

Savings Matching: Families receive matching for their savings to build assets.

Peer Support Networks: Families meet regularly to learn from one another, encourage and support each other as they work on their aspiration plans.

The programme is facilitated by EFI Alumni, who bring firsthand insights and mentorship, with the support of staff. Together, we walk alongside families on their journey toward stability and growth.
