Safe & Strong Families Preservation (SSFP)

Staying Safe, Together

At KKCS we believe every child deserves to grow up in a safe, loving home—surrounded by the people who care for them most. That’s why in 2017, KKCS was appointed by the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) as one of three community agencies to deliver the Safe and Strong Families – Preservation (SSFP) programme.

SSFP is a 6-month intensive, home-based intervention designed to support families during times of crisis—when child safety is at risk and family preservation is uncertain. Through weekly home visits, we walk closely with parents and children to bring about healing, safety, and lasting change. We believe the ability to heal and grow already exists within every family.

Helping Families Heal and Stay Together

The families we support are referred by MSF’s Child Protective Services. Many of them have experienced significant challenges—such as trauma, loss, or repeated setbacks—but carry within them the potential for restoration and growth.

Our work focuses on rebuilding trust and mending the hurt between parents and children. Even when love is present, past actions may have caused harm. Through intentional, trauma-informed activities, children experience their parents as safe, nurturing caregivers again. Parents rediscover their strengths and capacity to love in healthier ways.

Our Approach: What You Can Expect

The SSFP engages the family in 3 different intervention phases.

Safety Phase

We take time to build rapport, understand your concerns, and set shared goals for your family.

Behavioural Phase

We support you in applying new skills that strengthen parent-child relationships and foster emotional connection.

Maintenance Phase

As your family stabilises, we prepare you for a step-down into community-based services, ensuring continuity of care and support.

Throughout the journey, we centre your family’s strengths, resilience, and readiness to grow—empowering you to create a safer, more connected home.

How We Support You

We provide holistic, trauma-informed, and relationship-based support through:
• Personalised Casework and Counselling
• Parenting Support and Advocacy
• Parent-Child Interventions
• Trauma-Informed Work with children and caregivers
• Connection to Community Resources after programme completion

At the end of the programme, we mark the milestone with a celebration—recognising your family’s courage, growth, and hope for the future.

Let us journey with you—towards a safer, stronger home.
Because every child deserves a family they can return to, and a home they can feel safe in.
